THE TEAM
Hanna CLARIS
studio manager
Graduating in Art History from Goldsmiths, University of London, Hanna began working with Márton as an assistant during the preparatory phase of his Biennale project. Over time, she has transitioned into the role of studio manager, overseeing a diverse array of responsibilities from communication, administration, and logistics to editorial work, archive management, curatorial tasks, and art-historical research. She has written exhibition texts and essays about Márton’s work, most recently publishing “From Silence to Sound: Tracing the Oeuvre of Márton Nemes”, which explores the cohesion between his early and recent works.
János GYURICZA
production manager
An architect by profession, having gained his degree from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, János joined the studio team to optimise fabrication processes and enhance production flow. He is responsible for developing components of artworks that require engineering precision, integrating digital technologies, and conducting material and technological research. János takes part in the execution and fine-tuning of exhibition design, leads architecturally infused projects, and has notably created exhibition furniture for Márton’s Biennale project. He has also started a line of merchandise soon to be debuted, that renders typical details of Márton’s art into functional design objects.
Péter HENCZ
audio and visual director
Known as a composer under his alias, Casa Haasa, Péter originally began working with Márton for the Biennale production as a musical collaborator. He created soundscapes for the Stereo Paintings, Márton’s first sound-emitting, wall-mounted painting objects. Péter’s work ultimately materialised Márton’s vision of a multisensory experience in the Hungarian Pavilion and beyond. His compositions for Techno Zen and other subsequent projects fuse field recordings from factories with meditative instrumentals, layered onto a techno-inspired base. Péter also has expertise in programming, experience in photography, and skill in manual tasks, making him one of the most versatile team members.
Márton NEMES
artist, director
Devoted to art for as long as he can remember, Márton’s vision of his art extends beyond what can be achieved through creating alone. In 2023, the year before he represented Hungary at the Venice Biennale, he founded his own studio, which has since gradually expanded to include the team members presented on this site. In addition to being the mastermind behind all artworks, environments and projects, he holds overall responsibility for directing the studio.
Bella PÁL
artist's assistant
A practicing visual artist herself, Bella supports the studio by assisting in the physical creation and assembly of artworks. Her precision and detail-oriented approach, evident in her own artistic practice, are important skills transposed to Márton’s art. In her own work, Bella questions spatial relations and investigates perspective depiction in an atypical manner, translating her query into geometric forms and incorporating her expertise in glass technologies into her artworks.
Anett SÁFRÁN
ceramicist
Anett Sáfrán is the founder of her own homeware design brand, which focuses on functional porcelain and stoneware objects. Anett joined Márton when he first became drawn to the idea of working with ceramics in 2023. Envisioning a painting series in which ceramic elements are affixed to the canvas, Anett provided technical guidance throughout the process of creating with clay. She is currently involved in the development of a new outdoor sculpture series integrating clay elements.
